Tejas: From Nagpur to the World, A Voice for Children and Change
A native of Nagpur, Maharashtra, Tejas grew up in an environment that exposed him to the harsher aspects of life. In surrounding districts like Gadchiroli, Naxalite attacks regularly drove lives off track, schools were shut down, children were denied education, and families lived in terror. Being exposed to all this suffering at a tender age planted the seed of social consciousness in him.
When Naxal attacks intensified and kids lost their path to the classroom during the Covid 19 pandemic, Tejas took a bold step. He began sponsoring schools, providing resources, and helping kids so that they could study in peace. This became the pillars of his mission of ensuring that "Every Child Learns."

The Spark and the Journey
Tejas's awakening came when he attended a UN conference. There, he realized just how deep India's educational crisis is government school teachers weren't trained at all, and children in class 6 were unable to count. He felt it was his responsibility. Inspired by his cousin, himself a social worker, Tejas began his organisation Every Child Learns to fight child labour and improve education for poor children.
Facing Challenges Head On
The greatest difficulty Tejas had to overcome was establishing trust. Slum residents tended to feel that social workers were like politician scoundrels who gave false hopes and disappeared afterwards. Convincing them to send their children to school was not an easy job. Nevertheless, Tejas worked tirelessly with communities, visiting slums personally at times, footing the bill for the studies of children in private schools, and placing standards bribing children who studied hard and achieved high.
The Organisation: Every Child Learns
Tejas's organization is based on three strong models:
1. Education Access – Organizing enrollment drives in slums, orphanages, and rural sectors to enroll children in the school system.
2. Teacher Training – Collaborating with the government of Madhya Pradesh to increase the quality of instruction.
3. Conflict Zone Support – Reaching out to violence hit and crisis areas, and providing children educational kits and material.
Achievements
Tejas's dedication has been rewarded with several topmost honors:
The Diana Award – For his contributions to child rights and education.
United Nations V Award – For his social service at an international level.
Vimta Human Rights Prize – He was awarded this prize for his persistent campaign against child labour and for every child's right to go to school. His actions are a perfect adoption of the human rights principle that education is a fundamental requirement, and not a privilege.
Tejas believes that "Service to society starts when we closely look at problems and take the first step without fear." His message for young change makers is simple: don't wait for someone else to act be the one who makes an impact.
With a vision of extending Every Child Learns to conflict zones in countries outside India like Africa, Ukraine, and even America
Tejas not only dreams, but is creating a global movement where education is employed as a force more powerful than violence.
His life is proof enough that one man's bravery can illuminate the path for thousands of children to learn, develop, and dream.
